No more Grow LEDs with Samsung LM301!

It has been a while now since Samsung has officially announced that the LED market. For the world of Grow LEDs This is a historic turning point, as Samsung has been one of the most important suppliers for Horticulture LEDs with maximum efficiency.

We have already published several articles about the Samsung LM301 that you should definitely read!

The end of the LM301 era

With the phase-out, probably the most famous LED chip in the industry is also disappearing: the Samsung LM301 series. Whether LM301B, LM301H or the newer LM301H Evo - They were regarded as the benchmark in plant lighting and were available in around 50 % of all Quantum Boards and LED Grow Lights installed.

The success of this Mid-power LEDs was in their extreme efficiency (µmol/J) and the possibility of large-scale and at the same time favourable Quantum Board LEDs to build. This triggered an entire trend in indoor growing: Full spectrum plant lamps with high PPFDuniform illumination and better energy efficiency than classic NDLs or COB LEDs.

Grow LEDs after Samsung - what's next?

Many growers ask themselves: Which LED chips replace Samsung LM301?

  • Remaining stocks will certainly continue to be used for some time, but in the medium term the LM301 will disappear completely from the market.
  • Alternatives from brand manufacturers: Osram, Nichia, Cree, Seoul Semiconductors and others already offer Alternatives with similar Efficiency and PAR yield.
  • China manufacturer: Producers like Sanan or Nationstar are filling the gap. Some of the products here are cheap, but their quality varies.

For the Indoor Grow LED future This means: more variety, new spectra (e.g. with optimised cyan, deep red or far red) and less pure "LM301 marketing" - growers need to take a closer look at what is really installed.

Crescience: Quality remains standard

We at Crescience / Bloomstar have been focussing on the LM301H and Evo they are core components of our FLUXengine / FLUXstrip Modules and FLUXshield Grow Lights.

  • Thanks to sufficient stocks we can offer our popular Grow lights and modules with Samsung LM301 continue to offer.
  • We are switching to alternatives in the medium termWe are already evaluating chips from various brand manufacturers. One thing is already clear: the portfolio is becoming more diverse. Whereas in the past the Samsung name was a major selling point, we can now use the products that offer the best added value for the respective application in a more targeted manner.
  • Our claim: consistently high Quality, efficiency and durability.

This guarantees one thing: Even without the Samsung LM301, our Growlights 2025 and beyond Highest PPFD values, stable full spectrum and first-class yields.

FAQ: Samsung LM301 exit & alternatives

Are LM301 Grow LEDs worse now?
No. The Samsung LM301B / LM301H / LM301H Evo remain highly efficient chips. They are just no longer being produced, which is why their availability is decreasing.

Which LM301 alternative is the best?
For us, efficiency and the light spectrum are crucial - both are ultimately a product of the module design and layout. Future LED modules could be equipped with different brand LEDs. Osram stands out from the competition due to its reliable quality and explicit horticulture orientation. However, Cree, Seoul and Bridgelux also have interesting LED types in their ranges, depending on the application.

Are there still Quantum boards with Samsung LM301?
Yes, with Crescience FLUXshields, FLUXengines and FLUXstrips with LM301 still available as long as our Stock is enough.

Will I lose efficiency or yield without LM301?
No. Modern alternatives can be used in the appropriate design of the LED module. equivalent efficiency and service life.

Which LED is the best for plants in 2025?
The "best LED" depends on the intended use - whether Flowering, growth or full cycle. In the future, we will be able to Optimised modules and panels always with a focus on High PPFD, balanced spectrum and maximum service life.

What does this mean for Crescience customers?
Our FLUXengine, FLUXshield and future products remain at the cutting edge of technology. Even without Samsung, we guarantee: Top quality, high efficiency, high yields.
