660 nm. No more. No less.

Broadband spectra form the basis – 660 nm is the boost for flowering. The APEXstrip 660 (Mk IV) from Crescience is not an all-rounder, but a precision tool: a spectrum booster that specifically targets the deepest peak in the absorption spectrum of chlorophyll A, thereby demonstrably enhancing flowering stimuli, plant biomass and resin production during the flowering phase.

In the new Mk IV version, the APEXstrip 660 uses the latest-generation GH CSSRM6.24 from amsOSRAM, a state-of-the-art thin-film LED chip developed and manufactured in Germany.

The strip can be used as a supplement to any existing LED setup – whether as a sidelight, interlighting, or as a spectral enhancement to a main light that is too sparse in the deep red.

Why 660 nm?

660 nm lies exactly at the absorption maximum of phytochrome Pfr – the molecular switch that directly influences flower induction, elongation growth and the efficiency of photosynthesis during the dark phase. A deviation of just a few nanometres results in reduced effectiveness. The APEXstrip hits the mark with a 25 nm FWHM, i.e. a very narrow bandwidth with no spectral scattering loss.

The Mk IV follows the tried-and-tested APEXstrip module concept: M4 mounting on standard profiles (96 mm pitch), direct plug-in connection for solid conductors or fine-stranded wires (0.2–0.75 mm², AWG 24–18), with ferrule up to 0.34 mm². The design allows for and recommends the series connection of multiple strips – simple scaling without compromise.

Constant current operation extends the lifespan and keeps the PPE stable. The optimal operating point is well below the maximum – less heat, more years.
